The mean microcolony size was often of the order of 104 cells and counts in excess of 105 cells have been recorded. The importance of these microcolonies in relation to skin disinfection is discussed., UL https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/journal/jmm/10.1099/00222615-6-3-323
